So the season has begun, man has it been awhile or what? Seems like the winter was pretty easy here in the midwest as far as cold and snow goes but when you slip and fall and tear your rotator it just makes the winter drag on. But kudos to the doctor and the rehab ladies I was able to not have surgery and get back in the digging mood. So things are looking up as the season gets under way with privy digging. A ton of construction jobs around town has opened up some hiding places from the mid to late 1800's. This particular dig was at a vacated home where the owner said to me "Have at it." It didn't take long to get going and probe around a bit. Took about 30 seconds to locate this privy. Had to hack around some trees and vine type roots to get to the good stuff.:BangHead: Started off promising by finding a Carters ink at about 3 feet. Then we started finding a few pieces of whiskey jugs and broken whiskey bottle that had no embossing. Hitting the 4 foot mark we finally started to find some slick meds that were from the 1890's. Then out pops the Fairchild Bro's and Foster Essence of Pepsine. Cool find but apparently pretty common from New York. Then the guy dropped his teeth in the toilet. Yikes nice choppers! :laughing7: Then what I thought was going to be a Hoods Sarsaparilla ended up being and FA Woods Sarsaparilla. Great find. :hello2: Onward into the depths more and more whiskeys started to show. A cool casket flask but it was slick too. Ugh, but still they were whole bottles which is a plus. We were finding the usual mason jars that seem to always be broken. I took an insitu picture of a nice keystone that was broke. Getting close to the bottom we started hitting a lot of river rock and some field stones that were tossed in to break all the good stuff! :BangHead: But right under my feet in the center of the pit out pops the beautiful SpiderWed Pumpkinseed flask. Yipppppeeee, never found one before. :headbang: So the beginning of the season has begun and these results were good for sure. Hope to get out soon on the construction lots! Till next time, good luck and happy hunting. jgas

Good post jgas. Have been wondering why you have been quiet as of late. Glad to here your shoulder is better. I have the same problem with my left side, tore it while pitching. Never healed sompletely. That sarsaparilla is way cool! So glad to see you slinging that sugar sand again. Keep on doing what you do and keep showing those pictures. Later.

Oh yes, the teeth. Forgot all about those. I can just imagine the different scenarios in which the teeth were dropped down in the pit. Could have been intentionally or could have been by accident
