What does the embossing say?
I think this is a 1890-1918 mineral water, just based on the mold details and lip finish. After WWI, interest in mineral waters fell off substantially.

There are spots all over the yard. Like a dumping ground really. I went far as two feet down. Lots of broken black glass and very dark green about half inch think. This was on top but I did not find anything beyond two feet. I was worried about finding a ring with the finger still in it. Hampton park is like a grave site. Don't want to disturb there resting if any around the house.

I would be probing along the back property line as that is where the privys would have been. Charleston is so rich in history you could just about dig and sift in the yard and find stuff.

That is true but people look at me like I'm crazy. Only reason I started digging because the boss wanted me two cut the grass and first thing that came out of the ground was a Tuxbury trade token for $1.10 in merchadise. After constant marbles I just keeped going. The oldest might be a tiny button with shank still on it. Early 1800's. We'll there is no more grass in the yard now.

As Harry stated your dates are off by a large margin, much closer to 1900 or later than it is 1870.... Still a nice find, good looking squat mineral water.

One time a digging buddy and I were trenching along the foundation line for discards in an old empty house lot in New Orleans. We had two guys come up and ask us if we were hiring as they thought we were a construction crew. Had we been finding more than we were, I might have given it serious consideration.
BTW Sandchip, that is a seriously gorgeous bottle!
