I hear your concern.. What you see is only 2' below my feet.. We figure it to be 12'-14' deep... More to it, but don't want to tell all my secretes...

Don't dig it alone. Who knows what hazards are present. That's to be considered a confined space. Google "confined space entry".....

I agree many dangers here, never dig alone and as matter of fact we might have a backhoe on hand for this one.

Pictures, pictures, pictures. You can't take enough of them. There are likely 2-3 more privies there so keep probing. Best of luck to you

I would be too busy imagining what was there and digging it out, I wouldn't be able to take pics. I am excited already too

You really really really need to be careful. Deepseeker is correct. Confined space entry is not something you need to be doing without proper equipment training and help. It takes every bit of one second and lights out. At a bare minimum you need a tripod harness and o2 monitor. and lets not even discuss the possibility of a cave in.

Here are the pictures and what we got done yesterday. Here we are at 3' down and my 6' probe is buried to the handle. DSC00690.JPG We made it down to 5' yesterday and called it quits. Pulling out chunks of concrete brick for few feet but look like a 1' or so of sand, can sort of see in in the picture. It looks like a bunch of loose brick couple feet below my feet. Possible they collapsed privy into hole?? Well nothing yet we will be back over this afternoon!! DSC00693.JPG DSC00695.JPG Any further and we are going to need a ladder. DSC00697.JPG DSC00696.JPG
