Well I may have been fooled again. I love the look of this piece and it's very reminiscent of an early utility jar. Lip is folded down, has a glass tipped pontil mark. I hope to goodness it's old but there's that feeling that it's a modern piece. What do you guys think? Just from the Pontil standpoint it looks seriously messed up. Bubbles make it appear older but I'm saying it's modern. That's just me. I'm no expert. Jgas

I have dug 2 open pontils and one iron Pontil up here in 30+ years so I do not ! Have a lot of experience to draw from,, but my first thought after looking at the pontil was modern Mexico,,, hope I'm wrong !!

Looking at it more and more I think you guys are right. It's probably a Mexican piece.

Hmmm. If the consensus is "modern," I'll be willing to buy it from you, 'coscob. I collect large jars, and I have a spot for it on my shelf.

I'm still not completely convinced either way but was hoping you would weigh in, Harry. It is for sale also, so PM me if you'd like it.

It's gorgeous I'm pretty sceptical of it though. I can't tell from the picture but how much base ware does it have?

It does have a fair amount on the edges of the base but I'm not sure how conclusive that is.
