Yesterday I while digging a found a piece of a glass bottle At the top is LYON , beneath that is CONTENTS the next line is BREWING ,followed by 12 1/2 OZ and NEWARK NJ .It is heavy glass with an aqua tint. Thanks 012.JPG

Would have been a Lyons and Sons beer bottle if it were intact. Probably a nice trash pit close by.

Based on the shape I think it was a bottle .It is not something I had ever found before .Any idea how old it might be Also thanks for the response

Was probably a crown top, so no earlier than 1892 but most likely a little later. You can google the makers name and see the exact bottle variant on a Jersey bottle collector website.

Villagenut I found a couple of tops there also. I did not look closely but you are probably right that they are crown tops .I hope to get back this week and see if I find one that is intact
