Hey all treasure hunters, Don and I got the chance to probe another yard and hopefully find a pit to dig. Took us quite awhile to find one as the ground gets harder this time of year. But after about 100 pokes Don came across one. So down we go.

Opened up this one with the privy door handle. Always a good sign. Then out of nowhere. And for no reason I saw a glint of gold in the dirt. I grabbed it so fast I don’t get a picture insitu. I lifted it and saw that it was a spoon. Gold in fact with Waldo back mark and a patent date of 1894. I do believe it’s gold plated but still, it’s Gold sorta right? Lol.

Not really expecting a gold spoon or anymore for that matter we dug away to find some whiskeys. Some pumpkinseed flasks and a decent blob beer. Even popped out a scary as heck doll head. Yikes. Found a few other small bottles. Mostly slicks. But a couple essence bottles from Detroit. A marble or two and some buttons. Then out pops a ground lip JOHNSON and JOHNSON bottle but the lid was missing. As we were ending the day I looked at the dirt spoils and found the lid! Yeah. Good way to finish the day. Nothing earth shaking here but what the heck. I gotta clean that spoon and eat some Golden Grahams for breakfast. Ha ha. Take care everyone and happy hunting. Jgas. WOW, that gold spoon has to be the crown. I mean how many diggers find a gold (even plated) spoon in a privy hole? I admire your ability to find and dig these holes. That last pic looks scary. Please be careful.

Keep em coming! I like the blob beer! Blob beers are always good. The Johnson and Johnson is a cool as well. Be careful cleaning the spoon, you might take the remainder of the plating. My favorite photo is you and the doll’s head discovery. Great post and as always, thanks for the many photos. It makes the reader feel as if he was there.

Sure wish that spoon was solid gold! Lol. But I will try to gingerly clean it and put it in the showcase of bottles. Ya never can tell what ya might dig. Thanks for the replies everyone. Jgas.

The Johnson and Johnson is a cool one- I just got one too- I believe they were for gauze in iodine solution, but my knowledge is limited. Any cross on the bottom? Coulda been for hospital use.
