Torpedo soda bottle, back when they were having problems with cork closures. These had to be laid on their side, this way the cork would stay wet and not dry out and shrink--

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

    Great find !!
These bottles are known as "Hamiltons" in the United Kingdom, named after their inventor Paul Hamilton.

The aqua or green tinted torpedo bottles with no embossing are very common and usually not worth more than a dollar or two. Embossed examples are worth more, and colored examples (amber, cobalt blue, emerald green) are worth even more.

    PS:
Hamilton bottles are in fact a misnomer and this designation springs from errors made by bottle collectors in the 1960s. The error was due to misinterpreting the words patent and Hamilton that appeared on the side of some early mineral water bottles. Hamilton did not patent the torpedo bottle shape and indeed may not have been the inventor
