A fruitful weekend when it came to Paterson stoneware and glass, picked these up this afternoon at our annual Bottle Club Christmas Dinner, a perfect way to end a great time and a superb year with my fellow club members, the perfect "dessert"!!
The 1 gallon Hollander is as ugly a job as you can do when stamping a jug before firing it . Samuel was in business himself at 3 Temple St. in 1900, then in 1901 his brother Herman becomes his partner at 1 North Main St., then from 1903-1919 they were in business at No's. 1-3 & 5 North Main St.. It's ugly stamp is what made me want it.
Umberto Botta & Co. were at 290 Straight St. from 1908-19, they were in the wholesale wine and olive oil trade, this is my 3rd 1/2 gallon variant of theirs. 1/2 gallons are my favorite sized jugs to collect, I have between 60-70 of them now.
Isidor Zucker was partnered with Herman Steiner from 1898-1901 at 4 different addresses, in 1901-02 Zucker was in business alone at 27 West St. and then in 1904 he was at 202 Market St. and went out of business that year. Great 1 gallon jug from a short lived merchant...
