I know this is just a shard but I am trying to date a site I have been poking around on, and was hoping I could add a clue by figuring out just who and when this bottle was a part of the period site. Any clues may get me started....Looks like it was a paneled patent med but really have no clue based on the letters shown. I feel like I am on wheel of fortune and need to buy a vowel :tongue3: thanks in advance,vn

I'm guessing "Russ' / St. Domingo / Bitters".

I also am amazed that sandchip could pick up on this from that small shard. He knows his stuff.

I appreciate the kind words, but I must not be too swift because this one has had me stumped for 40 years. Maybe one of you can help the old man. Dayton's, Claxton's, Lawton's...? Peptic, Antiseptic, Cathartic...? I'd love to see what this bottle looked like.

Wow sandchip! it could be any one of the three. Would the color narrow it down?
