A few I picked up this weekend

Can anyone help me with these bottles I picked up at a flea market this weekend? I paid 20.00 for the four of them. Did I do good or get the screw job as usual?

Hooray. You mean I finally got a deal? I usually end up with just junk bottles. I have a pile of soda bottles in my garage that are just your run of the mill bottles that I thought were great finds when I picked them all up and brought them home. But I still let my wife think that they are worth taking up the space.

Well, how do you know when.......

I have never bottle hunted. When you use a probe,
how do you know when you have hit a bottle, a rock or a piece of metal?

Someone else on here will have to answer that one. All the bottles I have, I have either bought at flea markets or picked up off the ground at an old bottle dump.

Most of the time you look for outhouses with a probe to find the walls of the pit.You can determine if there are bottles in the pit if its not to deep. Some of the pits in large older cities are 25 feet deep. Most common ones behind older houses are 5 to 6 foot deep. You can look for bottles dumps with a probe with experience you'll be able to tell if its glass especially the feeling you get when it goes crunch!
