Dug this bottle at a site where I found some early to mid 1800s coins and buttons.. The bottle came out in great shape, it has alot of large bubbles in the glass. ..The bottom is pontiled...there are no cracks in it.
Re: Anybody Have Some Input On This Old Green Bottle?
Hey Jim...
You found yourself a nice embossed "squat" soda. Good color, nice bubbles, pontil, nice applied top... that's a keeper for sure.
I'd have to check my bottle books later today and give you an estimated value. Lots of "squat" soda bottles from Philly and a lot of collectors out there. One thing to keep in mind... where you find one, you'll find more and you should look for the dump or privy (old outhouse) where they discarded their trash. Could be worth your time.
Also, check out antique-bottles.net for more info. This is a great forum site with nothing but bottle info, bottle collectors, bottle diggers, bottle divers and bottle experts. You can learn a lot on this forum.
Take care and good luck finding some more glass.
Wayne
Oh, I forgot to add... your bottle is probably mid 1800's around the Civil War era... 1850's - 1860's real nice find.

Definitely cool! I came across one in the burbs near the airport that someone had been working on. I managed to save a few whole ones. Many were broken...
