    Mercury Stoneware

Knowing the dangers of mercury, what is the proper way to clean the inside (outside too) of this bottle to minimize the toxic residue? I think I'll display it with a cork after its been cleaned so a child won't be tempted to stick a finger in there or put it to their lips.

The bottle is about 6 inches tall but does anyone know what was this mercury used for?

    Hey Taro...

Jeeze, I used to play withliquid mercury out of small glass switches that my dad had around the garage. Back then, we didn't know very much about toxicity... oh well.

I would think that a good washing with bottle brushes and mild soapy water would do the trick. I wouldn't think there would be much of a danger left.

Cute little glazed jug or is it a bottle...

Sprinkle sulfur powder inside the jug..... a color change from yellow to brown indicates that mercury is still present

Well, back in WW2 it was used when a laxative wouldn't work.

We all played with Mercury when we were kids. In Da Bronx there was not much to do I guess. But I remember playing with it also
