Found another bottle dump yesterday.. Question??
I was heading to hunt a early house site that has produce 2 1774 KG, a bunch of pewter buttons, and trade axe!! and also random Civil War relics.. well.. decided to hunt the highest hill as I am walking back to the ruins. There were some camps close by looked like it might be a good spot for a picket post. About 1/2 up the hill I spot a bottle laying in the leaves.. then another.. so on and so on.. so I put down the machine and start digging them out. Spent 2 1/2 hours digging.. lots of roots!! but pulled 30 bottles out of the pit and I am sure there are more... the funny thing is the trash pit is really far from either house on the property and in a strange place on the side of the hill.. not easy to get to?? One is pontiled.. a few applied tops the rest are seamed.. but hey.. I'll take them!!
Here is the link to my only other bottle trash pit http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.p...c,74980.0.html
Above is the text form the Today's Find section..
Anyone know what the earliest Bromo bottles date too?? I found 9 of them in this dump?? I'll have to get the exact wording off of them.. but they list a drug company and Baltimore, MD.. I did find one iron pontil bottle and a few early ones... nice bubbles in them..
Thanks,
MonkeyBoy

Re: Found another bottle dump yesterday.. Question??
Hey Monkey,
The Emerson Drug Co was incorporated in 1891. Do a search for the company + history.
The older the Bromo's are, the lighter they get, and the sloppier the neck area. Some of my earlier ones are almost a powder (sapphire) blue.
I'm thinking there might have been another building, at the top of your hill. Perhaps an earlier home or maybe in-laws?
What does the embossing on the whisky flask (bottom left corner of picture) read? It looks like an extract, but it also has a lot of embossing, from what I can make out.
I sure would like to dig in your neck of the woods, you have turned up some nice bottles.
