    my first finds

I was out today with Doug/ Modern Miner and Bob at recent site that were exploring which has brought us 3000BC arrow heads, CW bullets, and some silver.
I decided after only 1 bullet today to venture into the woods.
I came upon a nice bottle dump and after picking up a few bottles i came up with what i assume is a cork type bottle/ the 1 on the right.
I have no clue as to either bottles date but the one on the left is a bayer aspirin bottle.

I`d rather clean relics than bottles, so i wont be scrubbing these.

Thanks in advance for any info on either bottle you can give me on date or use.

    Re: my first finds

Usually the best method to date a bottle is the mold seam.

Before 1860: Seams extend to just over the "shoulders" of the bottle

1860-1880: Seams go most of the way up the neck of the bottle

1880-1890: Seams continue through the top but not through or over the lip

1900-present: Seams extend the full length of the bottle and over the lip.

I didn't post 1860 and earlier because I feel your bottles are probably 1900's. But shoot, I'm no expert...so hopefully someone will add more to aid in your date quest

I found a couple of beauties over the weekend..green glass bottles...love it when that happens!

Screwtop bottles were usually produced after 1920...... you could do a trademark search here,

    Re: my first finds

Thanks Vibes great info: the aspirin bottles seam stops at the top of the neck.
The unknown bottle on the right has seams that run onto the lip. bummer newer than 1900`s?

Thanks Gypsy Heart i need play around a little with your link to learn how to use it.

I`ll probably end up cleaning both of them now that i somewhat know there dates.

Where am i gonna put all this stuff?
