Need help on new detector

Hi all. Im new to this and i want to get a new detector. I figure i can afford about $300.00 right now so i was was wondering if you kind people could give me some advice on a detector in that price range. I have been doing some checking around on a few different ones but it's always good to have some expert advice before i get one. I will upgrade later but for right now i just want to get one so i can get started when the weather starts to get better. i dont need all the extras like bags and shovels that come with it just the detector and a headset will suffice for now. Just a personal opinion (and we all know what they're worth) - get a Garrett ACE 250, learn to use it and you'll never be sorry.

Well i just pulled the trigger on the garrett ace 250 sports package. $297.00 shipped. I cant wait for it to get here so i can play with it lol. My buddy is supposed to get a detector to so i dont have to go out alone. Well thank you for your input it is greatly appreciated. I will let you know my future finds.
