    Best All Around MD

I have been considering MDing as a new hobby for a while now. I found your site and have been learning a lot. Hoping someone can tell me the best all around metal detector. I would like something that I can use at the beach in the saltwater or on dry land, etc. Is there such a model? Feel free to suggest expensive as well as lower end (but good) models.

    Hi
My suggestion is to a new metal detectorist would be the Ace 250. The reason...for about 200 bucks you will have the best you can buy in that price range, and FIND THINGS! Don't go for a department store, or radio shack detector...this machine is serious enough that you will be finding things at the beach, park or your own back yard. If you use it regularly at busy beaches and parks it could easily pay for itself in a month!! If you become real good at it quickly... then you could buy a more serious machine like the Fisher 1270x which will go significantly deeper and won't false on you nearly as much as a cheeper detector. I would be happy to talk to you more on this great hobby...give the Ace 3250 a try...worse case you find a couple o' rings that will pay for the machine after a year you could sell it for about 50 bucks less and you won't lose anything!!....happy hunting ,...and be PAITIENT! I would recommend a Bounty Hunter QUICKDRAW II.

It is an all around great machine for a beginner with the indicators that an ACE 250 has with a longer warranty, deeper seeking and easier target acquisition.

The ACE 250 is a popular machine as well and is in the same price range.

I suppose it would be best if you could go to some stores or a dealer and try the different detectors and do some research for what is right for you and what you plan to do with it.

People give Bounty Hunter a bad rap because they are sold at WalMart and have low prices but they are really great machines.

Also If you want to upgrade to a FISHER as the other poster said, it is made by Bounty Hunter (First Texas) too.

Even better you can pick up a bounty hunter ranger pro. Wich is nicer than the ace 250 and others mentioned. It has sens adjust pinpointing depth meter and numeric id plus battery meter and gold and silver range id. It also comes with smaller coil too for trashy areas. I had the ace and this little ranger pro is way more fun and way better pinpointing too. They go for like 128 on ebay in auction
