Bounty Hunter Lonestar

I just bought a new Bounty Hunter Lonestar. I have had it for two weeks, and hunted with it five times. I have found some very small silver jewelery with it, and alot of coins.

I have owned Whites, Garretts, and still using my Tesoro Compadre. I find the Lonestar very easy to operate, and use. I have figured out how to pinpoint with it. I wish I would have used this model years ago, and I would have saved some money, hahaha.

I do not know why so many people puts the Bounty Hunter line of detectors down. The machine has really impressed me with it's depth on small jewelery. I will be using this detector this summer, and I know I will be posting some good finds. It just shows you that you can not listen to all the negative things people say about the Bounty Hunter line of detectors.

The Lonestar is a fine machine.

I think that most people give Bounty Hunters a hard time because of the price. I personally have found them to be the one of the best along with Tesoro. Not suprising seeing that Jack was the designer before starting Tesoro. I wish that BH still had the lifetime guarantee. I am still using the BH VLF/TR that Jack designed and it still has a lifetime guarantee and it still works great. I have used other makes and models but am more comfortable with the Bounty Hunters. Simplicity with results, like my Jeep.

Everyone has their favorite brand but I truly believe it is the operator that makes the difference in the performance.

I think some people use the the same mentality about detectors that they do with cars. You may have more bells, whistles and a higher payment but the end result is the same.

I have a Lonesar and I love mine. It's actually my first and only detector. I have used it a few times, and found some interesting things so far. I had it in the woods here and up in the mountains relic hunting. Nothing to spectacular, but some decent finds none the less. I am going to try coin shooting with it here soon at a local park and see what happens, I know of a few ball feilds in my area that no one MDs at all. So I think I should have a good day there

Thanks VonDigger for responding to my post. Since this post, I have found a lot of gold, and silver in various parks around here. A few weeks ago I found a 24" 14k gold chain with a very heavy 14k gold nugget pendant attached to it. This was found at four inches down. I love this machine, and I will keep it forever. This machine is excellent for silver coins. Good luck, and let me know how you do.

I will let ya know how I do. I am just hoping that the weathr here cooperates. Gets any colder I will need a jack hammer to get through the ice. Here in PA it's like a deep freeze right now. So even if i can't get out right away I have a list of places I want to use the Lonestar at. And the list keep growing.

Oh I didn't, infact thats where my list starts. Of course I will be putzing around the yard too. We have an old sled riding path behind the house, I probably won't find anything to old from that cause it was made in the early 80's, but every winter we were up and down that darn himm I swear 100 times a day when there was snow on the ground and in the summer, we used to launch our bikes out of it to get speed for a jump in the back yard. I'm just thinking of how many times people either wrecked or change bouncing out of the pockets of others. Hey, a little extra pocket change don't hurt at all.

I have the Quick Draw II and I have to say, it is a coin hunting machine and a half. It only has three different tones, so the real discrimination is your location. If I'm in a baseball diamond or along some woods near a park I know a lot of "adult beverages" have been consumed at, I skip over the low and most of the mid tones, as these are almost always pull tabs or buried beer cans. But if I'm at the beach where I know that some of those low-mid tones could be valuable, I'll dig everything. That and sand is easier to dig than forest dirt. However, I've been out 4 times since the beginning of Dec. and each time I bring back more in coins, actually, went today to a park for just an hour or so and found over a dollar in clad, and a Dave & Busters token (grown ups Chuck-E-Cheese). It's a great little machine for the price. No complaints here!

Hi. I just purchased a Lone Star (my first detector) . The problem I am having is that I am only picking up pennies and dimes. How are you setting your discriminator and sensitivity? Gosh, I would be greatful for any advice. I am mostly searching thru local playgrounds, thus far.

Check out the Lonestar Challenge I posted, I gave you some advise hunting parks. If you are hunting tot lots, use the all metal mode, and set the sensitivity as high as you can without the machine falsing, you will be finding gold in no time.
