    Tried to order TIV

So I call a company that starts with a "K", to order a Tracker IV and the gal on the phone laughs and says "That's a childs detector, you don't want to be caught with that." Then tries to talk me into a scratch n dent Pioneer 505 or an Ace 150. I'm not sure how I feel about this. Is she legitimately setting me straight? or just trying to push me into something else?

    Thanks in advance

    Re: Tried to order TIV

Depends on what you want it for. It's fine for coin shooting. It isn't a depth monster, but most coins aren't much deeper than it will detect. It discriminates well and the auto ground balance works well too. Supposedly the 10.25" magnum coil will add some depth. I haven't figured out why they put a meter on it though.

As far as an Ace 150, I'd say for the same price a Tesoro Compadre would be a better choice.

    Re: Tried to order TIV

Just joined but thought i would chime in. I own a BH IV, well really its a pioneer 101, same machine. I have had tons of luck with this machine, found silver rings, silver coins, tons of clad, tons of pull tabs, everything. Its true it's not a depth monster, but it can find large iron items deeeeeep and i mean deep. So if your new to the scene and want to try it out then I would say get the machine good price, decent machine. I am going to to step up to a new 505 this week, so i can get the depth on things i am missing and pass down the 101 to my son, we all know that kids have talent were us adults loose things with age, my son finds more than i do but he digs everything, even a tick on the machine. It's no kids toy, its a serious machine for the money.

Regardless of the machine, it seems like that's a strange response to trying to order one. I would think she would have a better, more professional way of steering you in the right direction if she really believes it's a toy.
I don't think it's a toy myself. It's good for coin shooting. I picked one up that was a display item this last week for 60 bucks and the very first time I used it, found a .925 sterling ring. If a toy can do that then I don't care if it's a toy or not.
For the typical retail price it goes for around $99 bucks, I'd probably rather have a Tesoro Compadre just based on reviews. It's a little more unless you can find one used. I already have a Silver uMax on the way and the tracker IV is just a backup/friend detector for when a friend wants to go.
