BH pioneer ex upgrade
Have a bh pioneer ex and I love it. My only complaint is the lack of headphone jack! What can i upgrade to to gain headphones but retain Most of the features of the ex?I'm new to detecting but have found four mercs, eight silver quarters, a gold ring, WWII charm bracelet, and 1908 presidential campaign watch fob.(most in my own yard!) the bh ex has done well but I'm thinking of an upgrade

I just added a headphone jack and it works great. I also added a larger coil and it also made it a better performer. Hope this helps you.

Hmmm, new to detecting, you love the PEX, thinking of an upgrade that gets you headphones and most of the features of the PEX? You couldn't go wrong with the Teknetics Delta, which was designed by the same engineers and is manufactured under the same roof by the same people. List price is somewhere in the vicinity of $300.
We (FTP-Fisher) make lots of models besides the EX and Delta. I'm recommending this specific one because it's it is a big step up upgrade not a baby step, it's very easy to use, is widely regarded as an especially good value for the money; and, if the detecting bug bites real hard and you eventually wind up buying a $1,000 or more machine, the Delta is good enough that you'll still want to keep it as a backup, as a loaner, for casual use, and for tot-lotting where it may do a better job than an expensive machine.
There's an 11 inch elliptical DD searchcoil available for the Delta that takes the performance up another notch. There's also a 5 inch DD that's a killer in trashy areas due to much improved target separation. They're not cheap, but maybe you can get a dealer to give you a big discount on a bundle deal.
