Re: Landstar sound off
it happens -- you strike the coil on a swing into the ground you get a false beep --not abnormal

Re: Landstar sound off
mine does this too sometimes, actually the rod has become loose and before i tightened it up it would shift with every swing and the bump would cause it to beep... very annoying but solved with some electrical tape.

Re: Landstar sound off
if it happens when you turn the sen up to 2 o clock --you might have high mineral levels in your soil -- high minerals do make machines go nuts -- if this occurs try easing back slowly on the sen / power level till it smooths out normally this will help.and make the machine stable and usible.
bumping the coil or a loose rod that is causing a swing / bump "beep" are --- like telling the doctor it hurts when I do this (the doctor will then tell you "well don't do that then" ) -- so don't hit the coil on stuff and tighten up the loose rod if needed. ( now pay the nurse on your way out - the office )
wet conditions " read more conductive" increases the electro magnetic activity interaction between your detectors electric signal and the soil-- so its --like increasing the power / sen levels on your detector --thus making it "more sensitive"-- thats why you can often find deeper items in wet conditions than in dry conditions at the same spot .

Re: Landstar sound off
I have a Time Ranger that sounds off almost all the time I am swinging it. I brush a few wild onions it sounds, I brush a seed head on a clump of grass and it sounds. I was working under a sweet gum tree two days ago and the little stems, like stems on a cherry, on the sweet gum balls made it sing. Lots of gum balls and lots of singing, it was very frustrating. I find it will sing when I reverse direction at the end of a stroke.
I find it very annoying cause I am constantly going back over areas that have nothing buried in it cause I am afraid I am going to pass over a good target. Thinking about sending it in for some kind of look see by the manufacturer.

Re: Landstar sound off
My land Ranger use to sound off when I hit a wheat stob or weed stob, just a slight beep. I think that's pretty normal. Monty

Re: Landstar sound off
Hold the connector where it goes into the housing, and see if it still does it...Mine is due to a loose connector...Very poor design..good luck, Tom
