Looks like an iron shoe buckle frame. Probably late 1700's. Nice find!

I truly appreciate that sir. I also dug deep in the Shellmound and I found what I believe are two Indian tomahawks. This sport is on the bayou and never had a squamous so I thought to myself if I was a bored I would want to shoot off a cannonball. So I went on the other side of the bar you in a field and can you believe I found a cannonball. 8 pound cannnonball which I believe was only used by the French for a short period of time. Once again VT colonialdigger
