    Eagle button - value?

I found this yesterday in Ohio, posted somewhere else and got the response below. Curious what the value is if anyone knows, not that I would sell it but just curious.

    it's a low convex, c. 1830's example made by young & smith, ny. it's a tice # GS242A2. it's definetly a staff officer's button, and is not commonly found.

    Re: Eagle button - value?

It is a Staff officers button from the 1830's to 1840's. Young and Smith was in business from 1830 to 1858 or so but your button has the earlier type face. From the pic it looks like albert's GS 5. Not sure what it is in Tice's. It books for $55 to $100. No offense but yours looks like it might have been burnt or the gound wasn't very kind to it so it would probably go for the lower end of the price range. It is a hard to find type of staff button though.
