    Found this awhile back while creek hunting. Can someone tell me anything...4 holes vs two etc.?? Approximate era...anything?

    Around the start of the 20th century men adopted the 4-hole button as their standard. And women soon followed suit especially after more "man tailored" clothing became popular after World War I, due to the influence of the military uniform.

    Four hole buttons were well used in Germany since first half of 19th century.Zinc,lead and mother-of-perl.
    Particular worn for underwear,shirts for working and night shirts.
    I also found four hole flat brass buttons on field,dating c.1840-1870.

    Fault:
    I mean pewter instead of zinc.
