    Flat buttton ID help

I found these flat buttons a while back, and would love to know the time period and any other info on them. the larger one is plated, and has "PLATED WN, which I guess was silver plated at one time, the other one appears much older and has GILT on it (you can see the word if you look carefully). I believe this one was once gold plated. Notice that the gilted one still has a bit of cloth attached, which I am amazed at.

PS I dint realize I had posted this without pics a while back. Sorry for the duplication!!

I've got a flat button with the same 'Gilt' backmark, 18mm. It's been dated at between 1790 and 1830. Hope this helps... Griz.

    Griz,

You really dug deep to find this old post! I am glad you did! Thanks for the info.

I agree with Griz, but would say that 1790 to 1810 would be the result of my research and the sites that I find those "GILT" and "PLATED" are from that period as well. I would say that I have found 20+ of each but only 2 with "PLATED WN" and they are smaller than yours.
