1800's buttons I think

Found these two buttons yesterday at a 1800's farm house. Gold one has a really nice back side but front has no detail left if it ever did. Can't see any markings of maker to help me get an approximate age. Second one is really toasted but very interesting. I can see some letters on bottom and it looks like a shield found in military eagle buttons just above the letters. Done a lot of research and can't find any military buttons that have what I can make out. I'm not very smart w/ buttons so any info anyone could provide, especially time era would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

Hey Md that's some pretty gilt there on that flat button no doubt it's 1800's. Can you make out any of the letters on the second button, on the front or back?

Fred, pretty sure I can make out a "M" next two letters could be an I and a L but not sure. These would be on the front. Back is real crusty can't make out anything

this one's a two-piece but maybe yours is an older one-piece version

These two are one piece same period as your flat button (1812-1830s). Possible to find a Vermont militia button in SW NH? I know GA and SC like each others buttons :)

Oh my god Fred you found it. The Vermont light infantry militia button you found a pic of is definitely it. Now that I can see the pic of the button I can even make out the eagles wings. I'm so stoked right now I can't believe it. I was sure I could see a shield but couldn't find any pictures of military buttons with a shield that low. I even googled us militia buttons. I can't thank you enough. I'm a newbie and this is definitely one of my best finds so far

Not far at all. Was found in a town only 20 minutes from Vermont. Thanks again
