Is this a Civil War Union Navy Button?

That is what my internet research has come up with, but I'm not trusting it completely, and hoping for an expert opinion.

I found it in the yard of a house that was built in 1911, but it is adjacent to one from 1880, and an 1851 house is not far away.

Beings as your button looks to have a self shank iron back.
I would date it to the mid 1900's and would say it's a fashion or civilian button.
Military buttons almost always have a brass back.

Would it be likely that a Union Navy button would be in Minnesota? I'm not all that familiar with the naval activities up there during the War of Northern Aggression, but when trying to identify a relic, I try to consider location and what's most reasonable to find there. Doesn't always play out that way, but it's a good starting point.

Yes, the back does seem to be iron, and neither house dates to Civil War era. But was that design used in the mid 1900s?

This button is not from the Civil War unfortunately. It is from the 1890’s-1910’s. It is definitely a navy button though.

Never hear of the Minnesota Naval Base I see.
