Wierd Button...Maybe not a Button...please help!

I did a google image search and nothing....does anyone know what this is? I was detecting on an old farm that was the first trading post in this area, the was a small tribe of natives living in wigwams at this post and a stagecoach stop. I asked my only elder and she was clueless. Looks like a button....but I couldn't find anything like it...I hope one of you all know what it is....it is made of metal but idk what kind.....thanks
