Conductor Button ID needed

I found this nice little gilded button today on a vacant lot in a neighborhood of late 19th/earh20th century homes. It is about 5/8" diameter (just a hair smaller than a dime). Unfortunately, the back is missing, although the picture taken from the back does show that this was a heavy, quality button, not some cheap stamped thing. (there is no inverse on the back side, showing that it is cast brass, not stamped)



Now, I did find one online that looks an awful lot like this one, although it has two stars at the bottom, where mine just has the one: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/railroad-conductor-button-civil-war-475947139


And it would be highly unlikely, although certainly not impossible, that a civil war era button would have been at this spot in St. Paul, MN.

Wondering if any button collectors here have any more information. Also possible that it was a streetcar conductor, rather than RR.

Is that speculation, or fact? Last I knew, they didn't gild jeans buttons.

With the single star! Thanks. Its a shame mine is missing the back, but it is obvious by looking closely at it that it was a quality button, and not just some cheap stamped brass.
