Well, the first picture is my avatar, a late 1800's eagle button found in an Indiana ball field. Next, an air force button, post WWII, a Chicago Police button, a signal insignia , and a navy button.

I'll put up a pic of a couple of buttons that I found. One is a rifleman division eagle button and the other is an infantry.

Although I have found hundreds of buttons, I found only one military button. It is most likely a WWI era button.

    Re: T-NET MILITARY BUTTON SHOW

Well, as a matter of fact, I have 3 such items to post. These are my favorite and best finds to date (though I always love a wheatie, and I only have one silver merc).

First is a contentious button, because can't really get a handle on the actual manufacture date. There seems to be a lot of disagreement as to when these were actually issued. But nonetheless, I think it is a cool button. Scovill

Second, a Cavalry insignia. Again, not sure of the date, but almost sure it is around 1900.

Third, is my new gem, and currently my Avatar. Found this in the sandy depths below the great fire of 1906. There was traces of foundation wall below the fire level which indicated to me that there might have been a cellar or basement level which was common, so this button might have been lost down below, prior to the Earthquake). It is and Infantry Officers Button, Waterbury Button Co.

    Re: T-NET MILITARY BUTTON SHOW

I dug this South Carolina button the other day in 102 degree heat. It cleaned up pretty well, but I did not mess with the back, because there is still some Confederate thread hanging on the shank. That blew me away!! Backmark unknown.

    Iron patch!

    That button is beatiful!

Worn by a bunch of NY corps volunteers who fought for the King during the revolution... ... if I'm not mistaken.

Good to see the buttons posted, I like em just as much as coins. I guess i've found a few hundred from various time periods over the years. One here, a few there, all add up in time.

Yep your right ironpatch,i think i like them better then coins..Most of the coins i find are old 1800s slick nickels and pennys..When i find a button most of them are in good shape/nice finds..Goodluck in the ironpatch at your sites.Do you hunt in ironmask mode all the time on that machine?

I like Colonial period coins. Later 1800s and 1900s don't do much for me.

It can be a little noisy around iron but you get used to it after a while. I started at fairly moderate settings and just went up a notch or so every couple of months. Those are the settings where the detector ran hot enough but still knocked out the small iron so I was happy and that's where it stayed.

I bought that xp gold max,and man that is a hot machine for iron infested areas..It has such a fast response,it will pick those small targets out of the iron.I found some spanish reals in the middle of a iron patch with it.. I got sick of my minelab at the spot..
