Re: japanese old gold mine
I didn't hear anything about Japanese mining during the
Occupation. bga simply was theorizing about the possibility
that amalgum might be present in "old" Japanese mines at
those coordinates.
Maybe gba can be emboldened to explore these mines and
give us a report of what he finds.
Now gba, you do know mercury should never be ingested
don't you? Provide clear photos of the 'pregnant' mercury
so that we can advise you. Carry on.

lastleg, the mercurized gold is not a theory it is a fact. 1.6 tons of amalgum gold was recovered there just three feet contained in brass box. The latest was that 20 tons of ore left behined yieded four kilos of gold dore.

bga78: I do not doubt that you are correct. I encourage you
to seek a share. I expect you understand the danger of mercury
poisoning by retorting. Be safe and I wish you well. I quit
trying to extract gold using mercury when I realized it wasn't
worth the risk. Good health is more precious than gold to me.
Have you heard of the amalgam/potato method of obtaining
gold "buttons"? No method is completely safe for humans or
the environment. I heard recently of someone here who is the
father of a NFL player who spent a few months in Florida. The
delicious seafood was abundant. He ate it every day for two or
three months then fell ill. It was mercury poisoning.

Funny you should say that P
I still use the potato method, to me it contains the least risk and works great.
I must say that it is getting harder to obtain mercury though
it was a pretty smart guy that figured that amalgamation method out.
Don't eat the potato the leftover potato
If you find me upside down, Roll me over.

I posted the how to's on this method over a year ago and it was deleted immediately as being unsafe . Yet , it works if you are careful .

Re: japanese old gold mine
HI, don't forget to recover the Hg after by panning the mashed up potato. The ability of Hg to be taken up in the human system depends upon many things. Breathing the concentrated fumes isn't considered good behaviour. However, Just handling it isn't considered hazardous. In fact most of the older generation played with it whenever they had a chance, silver plating pennies for example.
Many chomped upon a thermometer too hard and swallowed the Hg with no ill effects.
Kinda makes one wonder, while today, if a mercury thermometer breaks in a house it has to be evacuated and thoroughy cleaned by a professional crew before anyone is allowed back into it ? ??
