Anybody could tell me possible location "today"?
Hi Folks
This story is about a civil war guerrilla. According with this statement found in the book "America's lost treasure" by Michael P. Henson, you can read the story of the Guerrilla leader John Mosby. The General Edwind Stoughton carried with him from the Southern homes a big loot of $350,000.00 and after he was captured by John Mosby. Later, the same Mosby buried the huge treasure between two pine tree in the vicinity of Culpeper, new Baltimore and haymarket. I don't live in this area of VA but I think today there is a chance to find it.
According with this story, today, where it could be this treasure?
Re: Anybody could tell me possible location "today"?
The General said he buried it about halfway between Haymarket and New Baltimore. In looking at the map, it is about 5.5 miles between those towns. There is a good chance that his detachment camped on the river. The local library may have information on his retreat South to Culpeper.
Much of that land is now farmland. Most of the lands have been logged or cleared, so the chances of finding the trees are slim to none. If they camped on the North side of the river, they may have decided to lighten their load before going across (they probably forded the river).
If you are serious about researching this cache, you might try to find out where they camped.

Thanks for the input. I'm serious but I ask first for people that live around that zone because they can tell me how look now if you compare the story.

Re: Anybody could tell me possible location "today"?
Some things about stories like this, always make me wonder. How would they know a value of these items without it being reported. Why would anyone leave a large cache in a unknown area and not transport it later to a better known spot. I mean him being a Confererate General, I would think he would want it out of Union Territory.
Anything is possible and that's what makes it a treasure hunt.
