The rest of farm house cache pics
We haven't even identified all the coins yet but one is 1700's, some have been shaved..same as chiseled.
I didn't even want to go to this site after it was hunted by a pro but we did and it payed off!!
A few war nickles showed up in the cleanest Prince Albert can. I never even knew they made nickles out of silver but now I do.
My favorites were the one that had been used as jewelry. Also found an old clothes iron heat pad complete with asbestos.
Dano.
We cleaned in a good electrolysis machine for 1 hour on most, some came out of the ground in almost perfect shape.

This has been bugging me since I read it the other day. I've always heard that the collector value goes down if you change the appearance of the coins or shine them up, and that you should just lightly wash them in water alone and dry them off. If that's true, why would you use electrolysis on these coins?

There are things you can replace. And others you cannot. The time has come to weigh those things. This space is getting hot. Whoa! This space is getting hot!

Could someone explain this to us, cuz the following is what most all of us have heard for years.
Antiques, what is the truth of old coins in re-sale, Thanks.

We didn't use the electro mach. on all of them just the worst of the bunch. The ones that we couldn't read.
The older ones were washed in soap and water. Most coins after 1850 aren't worth much unless they are in super cond.
And in all reality they are just going to sit in a drawer for who knows how long.
