Buried Treasure in Newton Alabama
I heard of a story that says during the Civil War, the town of Newton AL was going to be attacked and the towns Treasury was hidden by three men and they were all killed I believe is how the story went.
Does anybody now anything about this story and any leads?
I would love to go looking for it, but I don't have any good leads besides that.
Thanks

lol I am not Bon Jovi sadly
The only problem with the whole newton gold thing is that there are almost no leads on the story and it's pretty much all private land, I wonder if there is someone who would have knowledge of this.

If you go on down to Newton carry lots of breadcrumbs so rescue can
find you should you get lost.

Re: Buried Treasure in Newton Alabama
Oh please, Newton isn't that small. It's not exactly Wicksburg anyway LOL! There is a gas station there and a bank now. It's a beautiful old town. I love to wander around and I find all kinds of old places. If we could just find the names of the men who took the gold, perhaps it was buried on some of their land. Old land records would tell us where that is.
