I've got the Atlas but it doesn't give straight directions to them just says what direction there in. I'm.in Caldwell county, my local historical society says they have never heard of 3 of them I'm.trying to find info on where the others where but having no luck at the moment.

neo, There is a map at the head of each state that has the location marked on it. If the historical society hasn't heard of those towns they have probably never been hunted. Find the location on the map and go out there and search around. It's more fun than a park dig. Like my daddy use to say, you have to work for your supper!

People who want tips handed to them on a silver platter should rethink their hobby choices.

OK neo, pay attention! You say you have the atlas, so follow closely.
- Caldwell co. is on page 744.
- Moore, the ghost town, is listed as being 4 mi. WNW of Patterson with a map location# of 89.
- look at the map on page 740. Compare it to your state map. It shows 89 as being SE of the Blue Ridge parkway exit of Blowing Rock.
I don't know NC and don't have a NC map handy so the rest is up to you. It requires boots on ground.
Look at it this way, if it was easy, it would not be worth it.
GET OUT THERE AND LOOK! Frank...-

You go to Patterson Take out your COMPASS And take the road that heads WNW for 4 miles. At that point, stop, get out of the car, and start looking around. If there is a house near that point, talk to the people. They might even know the old site. Old Locals are your best source. Frank...-

Neo; Satelite imagery , Terra-serve, Google earth. I'm aware that time changes everything, however there maybe visible clues left. Flat land, clearings, buildings ,etc. Hire yourself a plane ride !

Neo, concerning your earlier question...yes, Waybills does contain a lead on p. 49 for the western part of the state...Asheville...it is entitled Moonshine Jeff's Caches...deals with money put down on and/or around a landmark called Beaucatcher's Hill...maybe this will prove useful/profitable...Seajay

What's the one in NC?

2-1' sections of 6" PVC pipe capped on the ends, painted camo. They are filled with rare coins and jewelry. Not allowed to mention the other forum on t net. All the clues are there.
