    The treasure of General Cornwallis

During the American Revolution 20 chests and kegs of gold, silver, jewels,

and other valuables buried by British General Cornwallis, are

buried somewhere on the banks of Abbotts Creek just east of Lexington.

On the TV show Unsolved Mysteries two amateur treasure hunters who had

spent nearly $25,000 where in the process of recovering this treasure at a base

of a cliff which the British army had gun powdered to cover up the treasure.

I had written to the Librarian at Lexington who informed me after a lengthy research

that the only treasure tale she could find was a poem written that tells how the mysterious

lights down in the swamp are the soldiers of Cornwallis guarding his treasure.

I guess the 25k boys where way out of their league. All treasure hunts begin with a

    35 cent stamp

Well they were both going off the legend in the local area this they cited was thier believe that the treasure was real.
If they had invesitged into the Britsh Archives and come up with something I would be intrested then again
documents can be made to order If the document passed tests then it would add validty to the treasure For example that treasure found out Death Valley was proven to be an hoax because of testing.

Fair enough. I guess I thought you were saying the librarian was right based on local research documents. Like you, I felt more research should have been done - by both parties. So you've got me curious. What is Explorers Society?
