    Perry Hall strikeout

I have been working on this project for almost a year.
7/13-6AM hopped in my motorhome and drove the 150 some miles to Easton Maryland. Stoped at the historical society. They said they didn't give locations of historical sites. I told them I knew the location but was looking for an old map that may show where the house sat on the property. I told them about the iron box with the Perry silverwhere and that I would donate it to the Historical society if I found it. Didn't mention the other 5 iron boxes of gold coins. They led me into the archives and got out the files on the property. I read them all. Most were duplicates of what I already had. Found out that the portion of the property that contained the house is owned by MEBA which is a big organization that trains and insures Big ship captains and crews. Kind of a union. I drove out to check it out. Most of the property has been sold off as mini estates. The area is loaded with no trespassing and posted signs. I am trying to find an "IN" into MEBA to get permission. An old friend of mine was a captain on a freighter and member of MEBA. Maybe he can help. The head of the historical society is going to see if any of the patrons has a connection. The thing is MEBA tore down the old house and built another on the site. It is a kind of executive guest house. I think the 6 iron boxes were buried near the house.
Went to Assateague State park to detect, guess what, It is now banned during the summer months. Waiting for that 3rd ball. Frank

Well, I'm glad I came by to read the meat of your post... I used to belong to M.E.B.A back in the early 70's. They are actually a union, Marine Engineers Benevolent Association. Although the union mainly handled maritime personal, they did have their grips in the company I worked for, United States Lines.

I always thought their headquarters was located out in the West Coast for some reason Everyone I new from MEBA has been long gone from there. One I know of went to prison, but I'm sure he's out now.

One of my customers is also a captain, so I can give him a call tomorrow and see if he was asscoiated with the, or perhaps can point you to the right direction.

    A built-in problem for built-up areas.

In little-known/hunted Oregon, there are still a few wide-open areas that haven't been built on yet. Mostly a question of water availability, I think.

Pretty sure I wrote the original article on it.

John Long didn't die near John Day. But Long Gulch, named for John Long, is a feature well-known in John Day. The Hermann Oliver ranch is downhill from there, and is known to have a lot of gold from back when Hermann declined to allow the big dredge to work his ranch land.

Still a lot of gold in the area, but getting access to it is a little difficult without buying it.<G>
