Take alot of Pictures. Weigh it, hold it, enjoy the time with it. Because once you tell them about it. That will be the last time you see it. And you won't get it back.

Actually, on Federal Park land, You don't have any chance of keeping anything there.

BLM & Forts.

it all depends on Location, and or who you tell.

Which may also work for Federal land, except you'd be Breaking laws
just looking on Federal land I believe.

I'v heard of people getting read the Riot Act just
for asking to search Federal land.

No sense of Humor there ;)
I think if they could arrest you for your thoughts they would.

Not far from the truth.

I have a similar situation and have queried the BLM Regional Conservancy office numerous times with the typical courtesy aka. NO RESPONSE. :'(
