Cache Recovery from a creek bed

It sounds like he found evidence (print/legend/word of mouth) that coins were buried in CW to keep
them from being found by invading troops. And he wants to know how to find them all in the mud
when he does dig.

They are not in the creek any longer, as it has moved several yards in the 160 or so years. I am just getting ready when we dig the 10 or so feet down to get the cache...

How did you find it to begin with. Expecially 10 ft down? I dont think there is a md that will go that deep. Also if its that far down in a muddy silty bank you better wait till winter. Or your going to be buried to, as we all know mud slides back into a hole. Or you'll hav e to dig it so wide that you'll give it away. Good luck and some more info would be helpful not just generalizations. It's not like anyone on here knows where your at.

10' down, not likely. Those CW caches were buried quickly. I have never found a cache that had over 2' of dirt on top of it. In your case, how would they have buried it that deep with spring water filling the hole? Think about it! Frank...

I would have to agree.

Odds are If they placed it in a Creek, They knew about a Deep spot
and just dropped it in.

Now if that deep spot was 10 feet deep, Yes your going to have problems,
even in frozen ground. I believe ground only freezes that deep in the Arctic regions,
if at all.

You will probably need to be Noisey.
have a very good Sump Pump, and fast Diggers.
and as was mentioned earlier I think,
Very wide hole

Like Gordon said if you found it why didn't u take it? How did u find it ten feet down? Also if it had been dropped in a 10 ft hole that pretty deep water for dry Texas. It had been a pretty popular fishing hole over the years and a swimming hole and clothes washing place, u get the point. Anyways sorry to say it sounds fishy, he gave no other info then found a stash. No who what when where and why to it. So how are we suppose to give answers?

there are many reasons he may not be giving all info.
(security, not realizing the held back info is pertinent, or just plain new to the whole thing)
when he says he found it, he could even be in the documentation phase yet.
(reading letters, Diaries / Journals, word of mouth, or, as you ask questions,
he may have to ask those questions to his source also)

If you don't feel you have enough info to respond, ask legit questions
without accusations or hints of disbelief.

Be-careful if you are digging down 10 feet. Make sure the soil is not lose or not shrink swell soil and you may have too add stabilization on the side of the walls if the soil is bad..
