Fenn's Motive for his Thrill? No place for the meek?********

Fenn's Motive for his Thrill? No place for the meek?

There are any number of opinions as to Fenn's initial motive for writing his poem map and publishing TOTC. You know the drill, but lets examine some markers that may yeild clues as to possible initial motive for TOTC publication.

My judgment suggests that the TOTC release timeing likely had more to do with what was going on in Fenn's life of a more serious nature at the time rather than with getting kids away from those newfangled devices to enjoy nature while experiencing the thrill of a chase for treasure belonging to an elderly retired art dealer, native American artifact collector. That is just the way I see it. "Changes after changes a man is more or less the same, just older than he was and younger than he'll be." One must read more to better recognize Fenn's track record for what appears to some to be "burning bridges behind him" as he moves from one stage of his life to the next.

1) January, 2010 Fenn initially had 1,000 copies of the first edition of TOTC printed.
Says he gave these books to CWBS at no cost to CWBS.

2) ~October, 2010 Fenn had 2,000 additional copies of TOTC printed and had a book signing event in Santa Fe, NM, Feb./2011.

3) ~October, 2012 greater productive activity focused on marketing TOTC by publist.

4) ~February, 2013 market driven national media becomes aware of TOTC thru a piece by free lance writer Goldsmith in the "Hemespheres" publication, and within days there is a backorder of 4,000 book orders for TOTC at CWBS.

Note that three (3) years had passed between the publication date of 1/2010 of the 1st edition and the 2/2013 publicity driven bonanza of orders for TOTC.

Collected Works, an independent bookstore in Santa Fe, N.M., had been selling about 25 copies of “Thrill of the Chase” a MONTH since its 1/2010 publication . Within minutes after Fenn appeared on TODAY 2/2013, the store started selling 25 books a minute, estimated the store’s co-owner, Mary Wolf. As of the middle of Feb, 2013, the store had about 4,000 books on backorder.
Fenn originally had printed about 3,000 copies of the book in two printings. He had since ordered another 17,000, in three printings from the printer as of May, 2013.

So then, what was going on in Fenn's life around the above time period?

2006 The BLM and FBI take stronger yet interest in the stealing/selling/buying of artifacts from indian/gvt land and being sold on the black market.

2007 undercover sting operations by Feds. begins (BLM and FBI)

2009 Feds start arresting SOME for the targets. June 10, 2009, 24 individuals indicted.
Most in Idaho, Fenn was a target but was not arrested nor among the indicted.

2009-2010 Three suicides 1 INFORMANT (Gardiner) 2 TARGETS of investigation.
March 2010, June 20, 2009, and June 2009.

2009 Tuesday, June 16: Fenn reaches out to sell his personal arrowhead collection,
2,900 flint pieces. Says " I will not hold out for top price. Instead I’ll sell for 30 cents on the dollar. I guarantee that all are ancient and you have a 14 day return policy to a buyer of the entire 2,900 peice arrowhead collection." Represented as being mostly what Fenn, his father and friend found together.

Grab every Banana From The Tree.

In my judgement Frankn, not likely that income from sellig books was Fenn's initial motive. Why give up $1 million to $3 million in premium assests for others you don't know from Schrodinger's cat to seek in the wood? Assets Fenn could normally easily sell. Why gamble on peanuts like $35 a pop book sales that it took 3 years to get off the launching pad and begin making any money for anyone at all? From the fall of 2009 to 2/2013 the book deal was a negative cash flow, not positive for Fenn, costing Fenn money, not making Fenn money. Makes no sense to me Frankn. Fenn has said more than once that the Fed. investigation had cost him a lot of money. That lasted at least 3 years.

However, when by chance you find yourself in a "glory hole" as Fenn did in February, 2013, you work hard for the money honey, you work hard for the money and Lady Luck will treat you right. Grab every banana from the tree as you pass that sucker by. That is my take on that. What about you Frankn?

Perhaps he already has sold the $1M to $3M in premium assets and decided to pick up on the book end also!

I got to admit, I love bananas, but I saw a load of them come in on the boat once and they were full of snakes.
Horney toad and ant-AZ.jpg Hay, I am fresh out of snake pictures. You will have to settle for Horney. Hay, that ant is about a split second from gone!

Channelling The Ballad Of Jed Clampett

Come and listen to my story about a man named Jed.
A poor mountan man, barely kept his family fed.
Then one day he was visiting with some kin,
Right then and there he met a man named Fenn.
Forrest that is, Art Dealer, collector of indian artifacts and such.

Fenn said, Jed you oughta take your truck,
Search for my treasure, maybe change your luck
Maybe even make yourself a buck.

Kinfolk said, Jed move away from there
Said, New Mexico is the place you ought to be.
So Jed loaded up the truck and they moved to Santa Fee.
New Mexico that is, art gallaries, tourist traps, Indian Market.

Well the next thing you know ol Jed claims to be a millionaire.
Now some folks say that Jed wasn't on the square.
But to give it to you strait, and just so
There an't nobody knows, for sure, thats is,
Lots of rumors, speculation tho you know.

Well, Thank you folks fer kindly droppin' in.
Y'all come back now, y'hear?

Doublethink to the Nth Degree

Nth-Degree.jpg

With this thrill chase game, there are a multitude instances of Fenn's use of
the paradox as well as metaphores to mislead, misdirect, confuse and confound
the game participants. Fenn employs these tricks in his writing as well as his
speech. For me that suggests that Fenn has mastered the art of doublethink to
the nth degree.
Most folks are likely familiar with the terms double-cross and doubletalk, but
how about doublethink?

"Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind
simultaneously, AND ACCEPTING BOTH OF THEM. The person intellectual knows in which
direction his memories must be altered; he therefore knows that he is playing tricks
with reality; but by the exercise of doublethink he also satisfies himself that
reality is not violated. The process has to be conscious, or it would not be
carried out with sufficient precision, but it also has to be unconscious, or it
would bring with it a feeling of falsity and hence of guilt." Fenn seems to me
to be the Emperor of Doublethink.

A statement such as "It takes a brave man to be silent when he knows he is right."
Now what the heck does that mean? All such statements are situational.
Such a statement is simply confusing, vague and meaningless without the context included.
"Einstein valued imagination over knowledge". Really? Again useless without the
situational context. "Emporer" Fenn just goes on and on and on, as the ceiling
flys away, with that kind of stuff (tricks).

Odds are that Fenn is very much a mentalist type beneath that western cowboy hat
that covers his real treasure that works hard for the MONEY to the Nth degree.

Dream Catcher Contact Lense.

dreamcatcher-e3.jpg

Looking at Fenn's Thrill Of The Chase game thru the eye of the true believer in the popular
"Treasure hidden in the outdoors theory".

The Navajo, Ojibwe and Chippewa American Indians legends hold that the web catches the bad dreams, preventing them from passing into dreamtime, while the good dreams slip through the center. Also affords "Beware the naysayer protection" ,some say. Wear one of these and read the poem map backwards thru the Dream Catcher lense and it MAY help you solve the poem map in your lifetime on your own terms. Good luck with that. No gurantees, as usual.

If I was asked what was Fenns motives where?

In my humble opinion I ask this.....

What makes you think he actually buried or hidden what he claims? He has shown the alleged treasure on TV and in pictures to convince people that's it real. However he may never have actually buried or hidden the treasure at all?

If he hid nothing to start with it will perpetuate his name and treasure into legend. Because people will be looking for it forever and a day dreaming of it, but never finding it. Forrest Fenn to me is a man after immortality and how he aims to achieve it is through peoples common weakness greed.

Because of this there will always be believers out there willing to believe the dream and why not? For the everyday person slogging an existence, its the belief at least for them there is a chance to be a big winner. Maybe a better alternative that stuck in casino dreaming of the big one?. Thus his name and legend will live on forever. And another thing he has induced possibly thousands of want to be treasure hunters who do not have to think too much, chasing an elusive dream to get back at authorities. After all he was investigated by them and it must of rubbed him up the wrong way? Who now have deal with thousands of brain dead idiots running around digging up national parks etc..

In a vain effort to support a Forrest Fenn's egotistic dream of mortality and revenge?

Your theory is the same as mine which I have stated many times.
The only thing that will disprove this theory is a will by Fenn that gives the location and leaves it to a charity.

Let's Talk Conclusions

jump-to-conclusions.jpg

Fenn does not spell anything out for his quarry in his writings or speech, rather Fenn gives hints
with the use of the paradox as well as metaphores to mislead, misdirect, confuse and confound the game participants
Therefore it is up to the Fenn's quarry to discover just what the hay Fenn is really writing or talking about if they choose to stay in the game. Do I make myself as clear as mud?

More than a few thrill chase game players avoid thinking by jumping to conclusions.
Jumping to a conclusion is like quitting the game.
You loose by default.

If jumping to conclusions were an Olympic sport, more than a few thrill chase game players would own several gold medals at this stage of the thrill chase game.

Cool Water-Bob Nolan

Nolan-Bob-coolwater.jpg

Bob Nolan (April 13, 1908 – June 16, 1980)

In the spirit of silly, chase thrill fun. The In Fenn We Trust clan should consider working this

edited Bob Nolan song into their planned campfire event at your May, 2014 gathering of the clan.

Channeling Bob Nolan's "Cool Water".

All day I've faced a barren waste without the trace of treasure, Fenn's treasure
Old Dan and I with throats burnt dry and souls that cry for treasure, Forrest Fenn's treasure

The nights are cool and I'm a fool each star's a pool of treasure, Fenn's treasure
And with the dawn I'll wake and yawn and carry on to treasure, Forrest Fenn's treasure

Keep a movin' Dan don't you listen to him Dan
He's a devil not a man and he spreads the burning sand with questions
Dan can you see that big green tree where the water's running free
And it's waiting there for you and me, treasure, Forrest Fenn's treasure

The shadows sway and seem to say tonight we pray for treasure, Fenn's treasure
And way up there he'll hear our prayer
And show us where there's treasure, Forrest Fenn's treasure.

Two Graves- Auvers, France

Vincent-RIP.JPG

Van Gogh graves in Auvers, France

Above is a photograph of the two graves of the post-Impressionist painter Vincent Van Gogh and his younger brother Theo.
Not to be confused with the book Two Graves by Fenn's amigo Douglas Preston and Preston's writing partner Lincoln Child. The former two graves representing the love of a younger brother for his troubled older brother, the latter Two Graves representing vengeance. Confucius once said: "Before you embark on a journey of revenge, first dig two graves."
And who did Fenn's amigo Douglas Preston dedicate the book (First published December 11, 2012) Two Graves to? Forrest Fenn.

Ring-ESCRICK-RING-.jpg

Now this is the kind of treasure hunting I like.
You solve the riddle of the treasure after you find it, not before.

Michael Greenhorn, a metal detector enthusiast, stumbled across the ornate piece of jewelry,

adorned with a large sapphire and measuring 1 inch across, in a field near the village of

Escrick, south of York, England, in 2009. Per the BBC, experts originally believed the treasure,

now called the Escrick Ring, dated back to the 10th or 11th centuries.

Now, a panel of experts say the jewelry is even older and more mysterious than they thought.

According to a release from the Yorkshire Museum, the Escrick Ring likely dates back to the fifth

or sixth century, was manufactured elsewhere in Europe and may have belonged to a king. In

addition, historians believe the sapphire was likely cut still earlier, possibly during the Roman

period.

"Nothing like it has been found in this country from the 5th or 6th century," said Natalie

McCaul, curator of archaeology at the Yorkshire Museum, in the release. "Hopefully this will lead

us to finding out more about the ring and possibly even who might have owned it."

One thing that isn't a mystery, though: the ring's value.

Greenhorn sold the Escrick Ring to the Yorkshire Museum for $50,000. The museum will conduct

further analysis.

Fenn's cult of personality.

Channeling the song, "Cult of Personality".
"Cult of Personality" is a song by funk metal band Living Colour.
Released in 1988.

Look in my eyes, what do you see?
The cult of personality
I know your anger, I know your dreams
I've been everything you want to be
I'm the cult of personality

Than the mirror speaks, the reflection lies
You won't have to follow me
Only you can set you free

I sell the things you need to be
I'm the smiling face on your tv
I'm the cult of personality
I exploit you, still you love me
I tell you one and one makes three
I'm the cult of personality

You gave me fortune
You gave me fame
You gave me power
I'm every person you need to be
I'm the cult of personality

How Would You Know?

Cat in the Box

If you were to think about it, you may find that there is
a similarity between the cat it the box Quantum physics
thought experiment and Fenn's Thrill of the Chase game.
In Fenn's thrill chase game, the box is the vast area
in which Fenn would have one believe he hid the treasure
chest filled with whatever it is he has said it is filled with.
The chest filled with whatever Fenn has said is in the chest is
the cat. The "cat" was placed in the "box" or the "cat" was
never placed in the "box". How do you know? How would you know?
Because Fenn says so? I think NOT.

Making a connection

connection-making-2.jpg

So then,as I wander thru my playing cards in this chase thrill game, there are some things that just will not let me be. Mysterious/mystic posts on the Fenn Chase Chat forum in early June 2013 by two "regulars"aka to some as Fenn fans, not to be confused with the possibly self appointed Fenn internet goons. Vexing posts that give one pause. Posts that seem to have just fallen off the radar "to keep the Chase fun going" was said back in June 2013.

There is a story there just waiting to be told. According to the Joker Fenn, "secrets are just stories yet to be told." To paraphrase Paul Simon: After changes after changes, a man is more or less the same, just older than he was and younger than he'll be. That's not unusual.
