Newbie says howdie

Hey all,

I'm new here and have been totally fascinated by the wealth of great information available. I've had a Spectrum XLT for 3 years now and have never really had the time to get out and do any serious hunting but retirement looms this year and I'm really excited to get out there. I live in a rural area of Michigan with lots of old homestead cellars back in the woods.

Quick story about my mother-in-law. She was a depression era child and it never quite left her. When she passed away in 1995 and my father-in-law started cleaning up the house he found over 30k right under his nose...in newspapers, magazines, under doilies and tablecloths,taped in envelopes on chair bottoms, in books, jars, vases, you name it. When I quizzed him about his lack of knowledge, he just shrugged and said her money was never any of his business. Apparently she cashed her SS checks and just hid the money everywhere in the house and a lot of it almost in plain view....so I know from first hand experience that people do stash the cash.

J, welcome from another newbie. My wife's grandmother is also from the depression era. She saves everything!!! Last summer my wife, her three brothers, MIL, and a few others cleaned her basement of canned goods that had been there for years. They filled a dumpster the size of a truck!! She is not senile or suffering from any psychological problems, just went through the depression and kept that save everything attitude. Makes me wonder what we will find when she passes.

Welcome to the forum. My inlaws moved from Tacoma, WA to Hermiston, OR 3 years ago. They were also depression era folks. They save it all. My Mother in law even moved empty milk jugs & old garden stakes & twine. You name ot. they brought it. Pheww! Spotz
