    I saw the sign in Spanish after I posted, but that didn't tell me much. I live in Florida where we have a lot of sinkholes occur, but I've never seen one like you posted!

    What I think is that some Chinese detectorists were watching CNN about how easy it is to get across the border into TX and CA,
    that they decided to try for it and got off target .
