    Not on a map

I have been researching old maps of my town and I found a house marked on a map of 1919. The house wasn't on any 1890 and earlier maps and it wasn't on any past 1940. The property is now the town water supply but when I went back to the town acquisitions in 1909 when they set up the water supply the parcel of land made no mention of a structure. It is not there now and with the snow it's hard to tell if there is anything underfoot. I did find alot of pottery shards next to a tree that were sicking out of the ground on a very flat clearing. Could this be a cellar hole. Why the short time for a structure? does it make sense or is it a mistake?

    Re: Not on a map

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm headed there next week.
