    CAVES POST FROM AL OSBORN

Al is having trouble logging in and has asked me to say from him that many caves were used as cache sites by KGC and others and that some are booby trapped. All should be entered only with extreme caution. Best Regards, Siegfried Schlagrule

    CAVES POST FROM AL OSBORN

take note the 3 teens were killed on Tuesday exploring caves in Minn. along the Mississippi River. They died from carbon monoxide fumes. The dead were found about 600 feet in cave. At least five other people have died in these caves in the past two decades.
Cave visitors sometimes start fires, creating a buildup of carbon monoxide in pockets in the caverns. these are not the only dangers.

If you don't know what you're doing - stay away from caves.

    CAVES POST FROM AL OSBORN

If you don't know what you're doing - stay away from caves.
Even if you do know what you're doing that's not altogether bad advice. There's something about caves that causes us to abandon our good sense and cautions. I recall reading somewhere a decade or so ago about one of our brethern who was working an 1800s tunnel that had been worked by Chinese miners. They'd left columns of untouched rock to support it as they moved deeper with their digging. Our modern kinsman in spirit started high-grading those columns, getting pretty good gold until the top caved in on him.

I hate caves and tunnels, but I can't stay out of them sometimes. I suspect the same applies to just about everyone else.

    Best,
    Jack
