    Carvings

i hope you erased the black before leaving. where is the cross in relation to the other rock carving. did you use a detector around the area to see by chance that nothing was left behind. if the cross faces north, which way does the arrow face. Start with a topo map of the area and set the topo map to north. study the pictures and the map, a lot of times you can pickup features that are shown on a carving. (each group had there on code for going from one spot to another.) take the arrow, it may mean go in the other direction. to what? the lower end of the arrow, the three lines,
top line? a creek or river with drains going in to the main branch. two lower lines, a ridge running beside the creek or layers of rock. it could be a dry creek bed. but part of the arrow points there? the cross, the carvings on each side at the top. could that cross mean two dry river beds crossing in the area with something bured on the north side. about all we can do is give you ideas on what to think about. only research and a lot of leg work will do it. and someone will say its a kgc site. boomer

    Ink over the picture .
where is the cross in relation to the other rock carving.
Is the same rock, the arrow is facing east on top of the rock and the cross facing north, the rock is in the middle of the hill 1500 ft away of another carving.
did you use a detector around the area to see by chance that nothing was left behind.
I have use my explorer II but next weekend my GPR.

has i said before all groups had there own codes, this is just one idea.

at the back end of the arrow, the small slanted line with a gap in it also look at the large slanted line with a 45% line running back, it also has a gap in it and they are just across from each other. could mean a pass or gap in the cliff or a pass in the mountains with a valley between.

45% line, the circle with a line running down the center. sun at noon or sun can only be seen at noon when in the pass. sun rising in the east and points to something when overhead.

45% line, just up from the circle, may mean a rock formation at the top of a cliff on the east side or a formation in a pass, notice the shape of the carving. keep an eye out for rocks that look like the carving.

two large lines with a dot in the middle, a vary old symbol. in the old teachings, the two lines represented the entrance to the kings temple. a pillar on each side. could mean to look for an opening between two rocks or a small drain. the dot had to meanings, the inner chamber is on the right hand side. or you must open the door to go to the inner chamber.

the M or W may mean, from the campsite go this way to a mine or water?

while you work in this area, keep an eye out for small piles of rock, a rock wall, a circle of rocks. means someone lived there for a while.

has you can see, there are many ways to look at carvings. keep an open mind. good luck, boomer

Another Interpretation to the Signs on the Rock

It?s been awhile since I put anything on this forum, but if you want to let me give you my shot at this interpretation I?ll tell you what I see.

In the top picture with the cross the rock itself is a pointer stone. Now you have to realize that pointer stones always point towards something or away from something, and you have to recognize what it is pointing to. Behind the cross on the rock you see two more pointer stones, the small one pointing in the direction of the rock with the cross, the other one pointing to the left.

The N could be north and the One symbol go in the direction of travel, being the one. Now you have to remember this could be a reverse symbol also, meaning go in the opposite direction. Above this symbol you have the infinity sign. Maybe I?ll let someone else tell you what it means, but if they don?t I?ll come back and tell you later.

Your cross and X give you two books in the bible. Who died on a cross and who died on an X? Can someone come back and tell us what book, chapter and verse they relate to? This is obviously a Jesuit site or religious treasure you are in the area of. Notice the two hills at the bottom of the cross. Could there be two hills in the direction of this rock or to the north or south?

On the top rock you failed to mark the T with the long arm pointing to the right. Probably East. (It's toward the top of the rock and is a light yellow.)

The letters on the bottom could mean in the following order: 1. Vertical mine, 2 Norte, 3 Direction of travel, north or south, 4. Another mine symbol.

What is interesting about the bottom rock picture is that you didn?t say the top of the rock is pointing north. If it is, let me tell you a few obvious things and leave it at that. If our associates on this forum don?t roundly criticize me I might come back and talk about some other things I see.

One, this is a pointer rock and it points to the left. Could that direction be west?

At the bottom of the picture you have the T. You always follow the longest arm. Is that to the right or is it toward the bottom of the picture. Only the person on site can make that decision. Again on the left you have a long line pointing up toward the right. Could it be pointing to that hole in the rock, which could stand for a mine?

You have the jagged line below and to the right orf the line above. Could that be lightening which means danger?

The W does not stand for west since west in Spanish is Oeste, and east is Este. So could the W represent mountains or hills? Or a canyon between two hills?

For those familiar with the three lines, notice the short line coming off the top one pointing to the left and the other longer one pointing to the right. Could that be an arroyo, canyon or water with trails coming out the other side? If it is which way do you go? You would go toward the right, because it is the longest of course.

There are several other very important signs here, but lets see what kind of feed back we get from my comments.

    Ecominer,
You are very good....if I may, I would like to add that there should be many trail markers, and eye catchers that can be seen for miles away..Here in New Mexico, you can follow them from old mexico up into Colo. and Ut..Put yourself in there head, and to me this is pure Spanish.
