Buried Treasure Game

Anyone playing the buried treasure game? For those of you that aren't familiar --> http://www.serendipitypress.com/treasure.htm <-- Here's the link. There are 100 questions and some of them are VERY tough to figure out, after you get your 100 questions answered the 25 clues can be decoded. Then you go out and pickup your 50k... In theory...

I'm looking for some others that are playing and would like to exchange answers or knowledge about the clues. If your interested and are playing, email me and we can discuss an equal agreement.

Just an interesting side note to the story of William Kidd.

My family has been in the Antique business for over 30 years. Back in 1990, a friend of my stepfather came across a very old steamer trunk from the 1700's. What was so unusual about the trunk is it made a rattling noise in the bottom, even though it appeared empty. It had a false bottom! In the bottom were 2 ivory tusk with scrimshaw writing on them. They were wrapped in very old newspaper that had deterioated and allowed the tusk to roll around, making the noise.

It is told that Kidd sent several trunks home to New York before being hung! These tusk had some very unuasual writings and described the location of a hidden treasure, near or in a lake. They appeared to be made by slaves. There were such phrases like "Free Us" carved in the tusk in very indescriminate places. This friend has since Past-Away and the tusk were past on to his sons who I feel do not understand the value and meaning of them.

I hope to get a closer look at them again someday. Who knows, maybe there is more treasure to be found!

I am also working on the game and have run into trouble on the section called Profiles.

Profiles shows a picture of two crossed baseball bats forming an X with a baseball at the bottom of the X.

The first clue given is: 28/1/14/122/60/19/3/28/1

I am banging my head against the wall trying to figure out the pattern or code here. If anyone can offer some help it would be appreciated.

It's a statistic of a team or player most likely. I've not solved any of that section yet.

could be base ball card numbers all players from 1 team or several teams leading to 1 player and his home field.

I have tried cross referening baseball stats from MLB history and have not found a matching pattern.

The game officially ends on March 1, 2006 and there are multiple $50,000 prizes that will be given away if the first one is found before the end date. We should all try to collaborate and work together on solving the first 100 questions as it only gives us a means of deciphering the remaining 25 clues. The quicker the first 100 get solved, the more $50,000 caches can be picked up before 3/1/2006.

The name/number pattern may reference volume or section numbers of some historical reference set including these subjects. Check Library of Congress refs for historical reference sets that include these names. The baseball insignia may be misdirection as some of the numbers in the same positions in the sets vary so wildly. Still haven't evaluated them fully, but these could equate with addressing or coordinates in one of several formats.

Thanks for the email. Your ideas are appreciated and will be looked into. In the meantime, I am focusing on The Brooklyn Dodgers as I suspect the two clues:

Pre-1940
Not Brave

...are terrific clues for that team.

Anyone know matching Dodger stats? I've been looking, but can not find one pre-1940 player that meets all the numbers.

I have been Armchair Treasure Hunting for many years in the UK, but have just been made aware of this book.? I have ordered a copy and will be happy to share ideas with you when I have had a chance to study it.

I agree with Russ on this point especially if the first 100 questions are just a stepping stone to the next level and final solution to the hunt.

Wow, this is an interesting thread! I didn't know there was anything as 'armchair treasure hunting'! lol I think it is a great idea. So what happened with the codes? Did you figure them all out and are sitting rich?

If we take the baseball imagery as our cue, then let's assume the numbers represent stats of players from days gone by. The largest number would obviously represent AB, the second largest Games played and the third largest Hits.... perhaps if we re-arrange things a tad it will all make sense....

Hi Everyone!? I just joined TreasureNet.com today, after finding it while doing searches on hints for the Buried Treasure Game.? This is so cool, I'm so glad to find others who are also involved.
I've been working on the game off and on for about 2 months now. I've also met 2 other people from other boards that are working on the Game and we are helping eachother.

I too am very stumped on the "Profiles" chapter, which is what I was working on when I found this site. My guess so far is that the last two (# 44 & 45) are pointing to some type of historical book, where the numbers next to the names are pointing to either pages or chapters, as I think someone else already mentioned here.

Anyhow, I agree, let's all help eachother out! Two heads are better than one...three heads are better than two...etc.? ? Everyone can win!

I noticed that the pre-1940 not brave question was still lingering.....found a website that notes that in 1936 the Boston Braves name was changed to the Boston Bees....in 1941 it was changed back to the Boston Braves. (http://www.all-baseball.com/mikesbba...es/016369.html)
