    What am I missing?
    "Terry started across, got about fifteen feet and said ‘Whoa! Look at that ladder system.' I looked down at it briefly (it was horrible)...."
    So why would an experienced mine explorer venture one step further without being tied off to his buddies? Or reverse his tracks and get out of there?
    The lesson learned by this tragic experience is obvious.

    The lure of treasure often supercedes common sense. I am guilty of that and only by luck and age am I alive today.

    Reminds me of a ooollllllddddd saying SAFTEY FIRST !!!!! It's just a shame that ANYONE would lose their life... just because they weren't be safe enough... Just a sad thing to read... just sad

    Once, in The Huachuca Mnts, Ariz., south part of the mnts, in an old Spanish Mine
