SoCal in December

Supposed to make a trip to Temecula mid December to visit grandkids. Would like to squeeze in a day of detecting/nugget shooting. Any locals want to spend a day showing an old Texas country boy how/where it's done?

You might also like to go through the tailings at the Pala mine site (buy a bucket and sift for semi precious gemstones).

Agricultural? The last seven or eight times I've been there it seemed a lot more suburban. But then I grew up on a farm and may have a different idea of agriculture.

Agricultural in the sense that it was formerly ranch graze land and many places it has been converted to citrus groves and Kiwi's.

A number of equestrian ranchos have popped up all over since the 70's.

I am a member of the Rancho California Caballeros and have ridden and rodeo'd mostly west of I-15 and camped out in the region at least 4 or 5 days each year since 1972...

It is certainly beautiful country and of course my wife reminded me of the groves all around. When you're in the car with grandkids, about all you get to see are the burger places and the stores! Maybe this time I will get a day to at least do some nugget shooting to the west or hit the beach at LaJolla or somewhere. I'm dying to give my new toy a workout!

If you can get away with it, check out " old town " built in the 1800's and there is always some new construction going on. Check on the westside near the creek as well....
