The front end eccentrics was so out of whack due to the wide tires and spread footprint that steering was near impossible...literally...its like turning trying to steer a car with power steering with the motor off...and thats at 30 mph...

In addition, the former owner changed the seats which changed the ergonomics so much so that the original steering column pressed into my chest at mid chest height...this too,

Its now (as we speak) being rebuilt by a front end racing specialty garage, with the addition of a new front end, power steering and tilting steering column...

Next week will tell the tale...

How about a little Poncho power. I sold the red 65 about three years ago to buy the 67 convertible I am currently restoring.

UPDATE

Finally pickuped the truck and drove it a weigh station then to AAA for registration....
and personalized plates...YLO TRUK

Drives like a skateboard on steroids...stiff ride due to the low profile tires and an offenhauser modified engine...

Next task is to install a 3 row aluminum radiator with a tranny cooler...

Then its into the cab with a new instrument assembly, headliner and carpeting...

And after that will replace the total rear end and driveline...some serious dollars

Hi Hammered!

Some news from Your start up? Did You need the extinguishers?
Were currently working on the Toronado. Frame is powdercoated, motor back in his place, we got the shell back from the paintshop yesterday and started to put it all together... It was a lot of work...

Going to do this Godzilla swap on my 1993 240sx. I ordered an engine from Japan (RB-25 24 Valve Turbo) which is found in the infamous Nissan Skyline. Taking an engine built for a 3000 ld. plus car and putting it into a 2000 lb. car ...........and a few bolt on mods and this car is very capable of running into the 12's without any internal work

I like turbos... :headbang:

I can't afford to have a Skyline sent over here thanks to the US BS import laws.......But I can sure enjoy the power of one!! I'm going to install a big turbo as the Skyline engine is so under rated and restricted. With a few bolt on's ( boost controller, clutch/flywheel/3 inch exhaust w/down pipe and a turbo upgrade these car's here in the states will get you in the 13' and 12's with no problem. If you do internals, 1000 HP and sub-10's all day long :o

No need to buy an other car. Building one is far better! And nobody expect whats under the hood! I like cars when they are much faster then they look. 12s is a good number for a streetcar i think. My Harley is running mid 11s and thats quick in the streets....

Hi Westfront, everything was ready for the start up...................................................and then it snowed, then it rained and has only just stopped. I am planning to do the start up in the next couple of weeks, weather permitting ;D. I love your Toronado by the way .

CJH, keep us informed on your build up and lots of pics too :icon_thumleft:, looks like a great project :headbang:. I was thinking about a twin turbo or supercharger upgrade in a year or so, I'll see what the power to weight performance is like first though :laughing7:.

The Silvia (same as 240sx) has become a favorite swap in Japan as well as the US. The engine will fit with the motor mount having to be fabricated (costly). The other main issue is the fan. It has to be romoved and an electric one installed. There is some issues with pusher or puller types. It's just making them work. The wiring harness has to be redone and is not too hard. Plenty of info on the web to guide you through. I bought the complete half cut from Japan. ECU and everything else is there. There are a lot of Skylines being imported to the UK as well as other parts of the world. Anyways, keep you updated.

That looks really wicked. Never seen an exhaust system like that before. :o
Its built from a Supertrapp exhaust with tuned length headers to get most torque. Everything is dyno tuned, changed, dynoed again to get it as perfect as my budget allows... I dont run her on the strip any more. Changed some things to get better handling on the twisting roads in our area. Now i take her to kick ZZRs...

Hi Hammered :hello:
Keep us updated! There is nothing better than the first start! You smell the hot oil during break in, the high when all works perfect....
Have a 383 waiting for a car too. No roller cam, Brodix heads, but otherwise similar to Yours.

I've seen some Hayabusa's run in the 9's at Marion International speedway. You couldn't get me on one of those "crotch-rockets"

Yes, this ones run like hell. But on the 1/8 mile or on small windy roads You have a chance to leave them behind if You have the balls...
