Old CW area...old bullet and button help.
Ok...I was hunting in an area of Southeast Missouri where a major Civil War battle happened in our town. This area has been beat to death by detectorist, but I found this bullet and button about 6" deep amongst a ton of tree roots. I would appreciate any information on either one.
Thanks,
Baldingboy

Both are post CW. Nice finds though!

Brnn53 is right on the money.

The button could be civilian, maybe confederate, lots of those boys wore homespun and had plain buttons or flower design like the one you found, the bullet looks like 36 cal

I wondered that as well. I guess, sometimes a person just will never know. I was amped when I found it though.

No doubt both are post war. There are some good sites in your town, however. Research, research, research, and more research. I have spent several hours in the Kent Library archives. If I were you, that is where I would start.
