Box Plate or Buckle?
I found this Thursday night (Dec 4th) and posted in Todays Finds. At least one person said it was a Cartridge Box Plate. From the Pictures, can anyone tell me if it is a belt plate or box plate? I appreciate any/all information. Thanks everyone.

Re: Box Plate or Buckle?
Nice find BB....From the front I want to call it a Box Plate due to the rust from the hook(s) showing through the skin, but the back you can't really tell where the hook's might have been.....I'm not sure what to tell you on this one?I added a couple pic's to show the location's on a Box Plate.....hope this might be able to help out.

Civilman,
Thanks for the pics and post. I studied the pictures you attached and I am still in a quandry, but can see what you mean about possibly being a box plate. I guess I may have to resign myself to the fact that I may never know one-hundred percent. Again, thanks.

CANE FIELD BANDITS and IRON BRIGADE MEMBER
Re: Box Plate or Buckle?
Box plate. With a belt plate you'd have seen the mark for where the puppy paws were--and no iron marks on the plate. You have iron marks on your plate both front (through the brass) and on the back. I have circled what appears to be part of the broken iron loop. It is a box plate, my friend.

Best Wishes,
Buckleboy

I agree with BB on this also. Very nice find.
